Who we are

Since its inception in 1979, Jewelmer, a company founded by French perliculture specialist Jacques Branellec and Filipino businessman Manuel Cojuangco, has been engaged in South Sea pearl farming with the vision of creating the most lustrous pearls in the world. More than 30 years later, Jewelmer continues to be the leading producer of exquisite and rare golden Palawan South Sea pearls and actively participates in international trade fairs as the prominent supplier of Palawan South Sea pearls in the world market.

The company also prides itself in being the only pearl farm company that designs and manufactures fine pearl jewelry, which is a perfect blend of European and Asian artistry and craftsmanship.

Jewelmer operates fine pearl jewelry retail boutiques located in five-star hotels and high-end commercial malls in the Philippines and has trade and retail presence in Dubai, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Paris.

Jewelmer through the years

1979 - With a vision to produce the most lustrous South Sea pearls in the world, Jewelmer was established in Manila, Philippines and Bugsuk Island, Palawan

1982 – First harvest of saleable South Sea pearls.

1983 - Opened jewelry workshops, under the supervision of several French Master Craftsmen, including French designers and jewelry-making instructors.

1985 – Jewelmer opens its first retail showroom in Manila, Philippines

1991- Established the Pearl Museum in Manila under the patronage of the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco

July 1996 – Published the coffee table book "The Pearl Road" with Christophe Loviny. The book featured the archeological discovery of a sunken trading vessel in the idyllic waters of Balabac, Palawan. This landmark discovery yielded close to 5,000 artifacts that told the story of their trading system, maritime technology, ways of life and other facets of pre-colonial times.

1996 - On October 15, 1996, Presidential Proclamation No. 905 of President Fidel V. Ramos declares the South Sea pearl as the Philippine National Gem.

1999 – First harvest of golden South Sea pearls.

2001 – Published "The Ultimate Orient", a coffeetable book by master underwater photographer, Scott "Gutsy" Tuason, and journalist Alya Honasan.

2003 – Staged the 1st "Manila Jazz Festival" organized by Jewelmer with the support of Ambassador Renée Veyret for the Embassy of France in the Philippines' French Spring in Manila.

2004 – Jewelmer celebrated its 25th anniversary ranked as among the three largest producers of South Sea pearls in the world.

2007 - Jewelmer shares the Miracle of the Golden Pearl in a gala event in the Museum Nationalle de Hisoire Naturelle in Paris, France. The event was in commemoration of the golden Philippine South Sea pearl's presence in the Perles exhibit in the museum as well as the launch of Didier Brodbeck's book entitiled: Le Miracle de la Perle D'Or (The Miracle of the Golden Pearl)

2009 - Jewelmer celebrates its 30th Pearl Anniversary.

April 2010 – Jewelmer opens its 15th retail showroom at Marquee Mall, Pampanga

November 2010 – Jewelmer celebrates Filipino designer Rhett Eala's 20th Anniversary through a Fashion show at Whitespace, Manila. The event, co-sponsored by Collezione showcased Eala's couture partnered with Jewelmer's fine South Sea pearl jewellery.

Mid 2011 – Jewelmer opens its showrooms at Resorts World, Manila and Davao, Philippines.
